Kalim Khan BA, LLB, JD (Senior Partner)

After graduating from Trinity College, University of Toronto, Kalim proceeded to the joint Canadian and American LL.B./J.D. program at Windsor and Detroit, graduating in 1999. He was called to the bar under the auspices of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2000. During his academic years he earned a Certificate in Mediation from the leading organisation in ADR, Stitt Feld Handy. Furthermore he completed an International Law Program at Kings College London (UK) where he was exposed to International Commercial Transactions, Maritime Law and Islamic Legal Theory.

After articling, he started his legal career as in-house Counsel for a software company in Toronto before joining the Government of Ontario as a mediator, where he negotiated various complex resolutions. He proved to be one of the most effective mediators there, securing the highest number of successful mediations during his tenure. Mr. Khan then joined Mr. Chehab, with whom he went on to form Chehab & Khan, the predecessor of Affinity Lawyers. The firm’s focus has primarily been on corporate/commercial matters and insurance litigation. Mr.Khan played a foundational role in the establishment of Islamic finance in Toronto, working over $100 million with various lenders. He also has legal experience with commercial transactions in China, the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Over the years he has proven to be an excellent advisor and negotiator for his clients as well as mentor for his colleagues. His personality and diverse International experience lends itself to becoming the strategic advantage you need on your management team.


Parveen Khan, LLB (Legal Research Advisor)

Parveen Khan graduated from the International Baccalaureate Program from International School of Lusaka, Zambia. After extensively traveling throughout the world, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada.

Upon completing her LLB from University of London, she commenced working at Affinity Law as a Research Advisor. She has proven to be a tenacious legal researcher, always keeping pace with the fast-changing body of case law.

Parveen speaks four languages, and is working on becoming proficient at her fifth. She also holds a diploma in Arabic. She manages her law career along with running a home-based bakery. Being a home-schooling mother of four places her in a strategic position of exercising her creative dispute resolution skills on a daily basis, which she brings to bear on her clients’ mediations.


Joshua Meshack (Law Student)

Joshua is a 10 year veteran in the insurance claims industry. He is a graduate of the University of Buckingham Law School in the UK. Having worked on both the insurance and legal sides of the law he brings a unique perspective to insurance law. He has a passion for assisting people through the complex claims process and is dedicated to clients obtaining their legal rights. Over the years he has actively participated in numerous negotiations with insurance companies and legal professionals including discussions and preparation of case planning and strategy in writing and in person.


TALAL CHEHAB (Managing Partner)

Mr. Chehab is the managing partner of Affinity Law. He specializes in Corporate-Commercial law with clientele ranging from small business entrepreneurs to public companies. Mr. Chehab obtained his bachelors degree (B.A.) in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1984. In 1987, Mr. Chehab obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. Upon being called to the Bar (Law Society of Upper Canada), he began his legal career in 1989 and established his own law firm in 1993 and continues to operate same until the present time along with his associates. Mr. Chehab’s main area of practice is corporate/commercial law with a focus on raising of capital for public and private companies, shariah compliant financing, corporate acquisitions and structuring asset/share purchase & sale transactions, shareholder agreements, franchising, secured lending, joint venture agreements and distribution/agency agreements. Mr. Chehab has a solid background in corporate/commercial affairs, both from a legal and business perspective. He has ample experience in management and corporate governance as well as raising capital through private placements. During the period 2005-2011, he was a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee of ECU Silver Mining Inc., a publicly traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) engaged in gold, silver, zinc and lead mining in Mexico, having a market capitalization of $600 Million. As well, he is also currently a Director of Golden Tag Resources Inc. (symbol: GOG) another publicly traded company (TSX Venture Exchange) involved in gold mining projects in Canada and Mexico. Mr. Chehab previously served as a Director of GOG during the period 2005 to 2010 and was a member of its Audit Committee. In addition to operating his law practice, Mr. Chehab co-founded and is currently President and CEO of AYA Financial Inc., a company that specializes in shariah compliant product structuring including commercial & residential real estate financing as well as equipment and infrastructure financing.


HAIDER BAHADUR (Partner)

Haider Bahadur is one of the Partners at Affinity Law. Mr. Bahadur earned his Juris Doctor from Bond University in Queensland Australia, and his B.A. in Public Policy from Ryerson University. Mr. Bahadur has a diverse practice including personal injury/insurance litigation, corporate/commercial litigation, employment law, and performing real estate transactions. Haider’s prior experience working for an insurance company and a national bank prior to his legal education has given him a unique insight, which ensures that he is well-equipped to handle a variety of issues while also navigating the often-complex legal system. Mr. Bahadur worked for many years with an acclaimed insurance company as a claims adjuster. The experience Mr. Bahadur has gained in working with the Insurance company is one of the unique assets that he possesses when advocating for his clients. Mr. Bahadur has developed a strong knowledge base and a variety of skills sets which has enabled him to be successful in handling injury claims and recovering compensation from the insurance companies for his clients. Mr. Bahadur has appeared in the Superior Court of Ontario, Financial Service Commission of Ontario and more recently, the License Appeal Tribunal. As it pertains to Mr. Bahadur’s personal injury practice, he specializes in the handling of car accident claims, motorcycle crashes, slip and fall, traumatic brain injuries, long term disability claims and other acts of general negligence resulting in personal injury. Given Mr. Bahadur’s dedication of advocacy for his clients and strong commitment for success, he has been able to recover over millions of dollars in compensation from the insurance companies over the years. OMAR SAAB (Associate Lawyer)

Omar Saab obtained his law degree from the University of Law in London, England after receiving an Honours Bachelor Degree in history from York University. After been introduced to the team in 2013 as a summer student, Omar was called to the Ontario bar in 2018. Omar is fluent in English and Arabic and is passionate about helping others. He is actively engaged in the community and taking part in many volunteer events in connection with cancer research and the Sick Kids Foundation. Omar currently focuses his practice on corporate commercial law, real estate, Sharia compliant financing and conventional/ private mortgages. Omar also has knowledge in assisting clients in recovering settlements in both accident benefits and civil litigation matters. Omar is a licenced coach in Fair Play which he translates to the youth soccer team he occasionally assists and likes to make it known that he is an avid fan of Liverpool Football Club. Away from the office Omar enjoys spending time with his family and taking charge of the BBQ on summer days.


ADITYA DHINGRA(Associate)

Aditya Dhingra practices in a number of areas, including motor vehicle accident claims, accident benefits claims, slip and falls, wrongful dismissal suits, debtor disputes, breach of contract actions, and police brutality cases. Aditya articled at Affinity Law and was hired back as an Associate in 2019. He attained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta and holds an Honours Bachelors of Science Kinesiology degree from McMaster University. Aditya is a steadfast and determined litigator, and has represented clients at the superior court and small claims court levels. Aditya applies a pragmatic and thoughtful approach towards his work, and prudently manages his case files towards their resolution. Prior to joining Affinity Law, Aditya worked as a summer law student at the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, a legal aid clinic which represents low income seniors receiving care in hospitals and long term care homes.
